You bought what? A wheatgrass what?

So as most of you have read, and can tell from my Valentine’s Day gift to my husband (you can read Nothing Says I Love You Like…. Spinach? here), my husband is really into trying to make healthy choices when it comes to eating habits. When we were on our cruise, we found an awesome little beer garden in St. Thomas tucked back among the business jewelry district. The lady who owned the place talked to us for a few hours on life, love, family, and the benefits of vegetable juice more specifically wheatgrass.

The Vegetable Juice Healthy Juicer

Of course, Eric was dying to get a vegetable juice juicer when he got back. He did all his research, and researched the benefits of wheatgrass. Apparently there are tons of benefits to having fresh juices and wheatgrass juice. He tired to tell me them all, but I wasn’t paying 100% close attention. {Oops!} Something about good digestion, production of energy, yada yada yada…. I’m just putting my trust in him that it is healthy. Hey! It is pure vegetable juice Jack! How bad for you can it be!?! He settled on a manual vegetable juicer called the Healthy Juicer.

Let the Juicing Begin

The day we got it, we juiced wheatgrass and carrots together. It actually wasn’t that bad! Who woulda thought vegetable juice could be so good. I mean I do like V8 juice, but that has to be V8 Splash. Not the same thing right?

Since then, my husband has pretty much juiced everything he can fit in the Healthy Juicer. Spinach, check. Wheatgrass, check. Carrots, check. Kale, check. Grapes, check. Apples, check. Tomorrow he’s got plans on getting his hands on my grapefruit!

My favorite juice mixture so far is his combination of wheatgrass, black grapes, and apples. I have come to enjoy my little shots of wheatgrass, and look forward to them daily. Trust me, it looks disgusting. I’ve compared to it several things that I’m not going to mention on the blog because it TASTES AWESOME! And you only need a tiny bit. A half a shot to a shot every day or every other day of wheatgrass is what is recommended. THAT’S IT!

Here Eric is taking his first “shot” of wheatgrass {Zach Hutchinson Lawn Care trucker hat and all!}!!

Curious to know if anyone else has tried juicing and the benefits they have seen from it?!?

Happy Juicing!!

Rehab Finds… Wooden Church Replica

by Andi on March 18, 2013 · 4 comments

Oh the things you find in a new house! New house to us that is. You wouldn’t believe the weird unique items that people leave behind when the move out of their home. Whether it is a foreclosed property or a home purchased from the owner, we find all sorts of weird items, unique and interesting.

Okay, so a little background info for some that may not know.  As I said on About Andi with I page, I work for my husband who is a real estate investor. One part of our business is rehabbing homes. I love, love this part of the business. I like fixing up neighborhoods and restoring homes.

We’ve currently got a rehab project going on that we bought that I consider a “new house.” We have taken the home down to the studs, re-designed the layout, and built it back again. So it is technically kinda a new house, right? Anyway, be on the lookout for posts on our progress throughout the rehab! On to the goods….

Wooden Church Replica in New House

new house

We found this incredible, HUGE, wooden church replica! The town the new house is located in has a Catholic church with a private school. We thought maybe it was a replica of that, but no luck in finding out.

The detail on this little church is awesome! It even has tiny, itty-bitty pews inside!! I love it!

This thing needs a little TLC as far as cleaning, but it is pretty darn sturdy! And it is very big! Most of the items that get left behind usually get tossed into a dumpster if they can’t be salvaged, but this wooden church is too cool not to donate to the local library or anyone who wants to clean it up.

You can see in the picture above, to the left, there is a toilet. The church is bigger than the toilet! I told you it was massive!

Anyway, I think I may start a segment of all the interesting, unusual, cool, crazy, weird items that we find in houses. Maybe once a month I’ll post my House Finds Hall of Fame! :)

I’m still holding out on finding a big wad of cash stuffed behind walls…..

What’s the weirdest/coolest/most unique item you’ve ever found in a house?!
