So you want to see Spain & Portugal, do you? Join my mom and I on our 10-Day adventure from Barcelona to Lisbon.
Alright, let's jump into it: The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Barcelona
Chances are you're arriving early morning or mid-day. Head on over to your hotel to get settled in, then find a tasty spot to eat and soak in the culture of the city. We went in mid-October. It seemed like there was a block party around every corner.
Day 2: Explore Montserrat & Barcelona
Whether or not you like to hike, the Montserrat is an absolute must. Start your day here. Taste some of the local honey and goat cheeses on your stroll to the cathedral. Enjoy lunch before heading back to town.
You'll have plenty of time to swing by Sagrada Familia Basilica, the Columbus Monument, Plaza de Cataluna, Paseo de Gracia, Palau de La Musica and Montjuïc Hill. Finish up your day passing by the Olympic park for Paella in the harbor.
Day 3: Road trip to Madrid through the Catalonian and Aragonian Countryside
I can honestly say that this 7-hour drive wasn't the most fun, but it certainly was beautiful looking at the rows of olive trees. Upon arrival to Madrid, check out El Retiro Park before settling in with a glass of wine and delicious cuisine.
Day 4: Explore Madrid & Toledo
Start the day out at the Prado Museum with a stop of Puerta del Sol Cibeles and Calle Alcal. Finish the day up with an afternoon adventure to Toledo: The City of Three Cultures
Day 5: Road trip to Cordoba on the way to Seville
You can opt for a 4-hour drive or a 2-hour train ride to reach Cordoba from Madrid. Explore this unique city before another 1.5-hour drive to Seville (or the train should take about 50 minutes)
Day 6: Explore Seville
Visit the Alcazar of Seville, Seville Cathedral & La Giralda, Plaza de España, Setas de Sevilla, & Plaza de Toros, all while enjoying some espressos and great shopping. We were able to get around the city fairly easily. Finish the night up with traditional Flamenco.
Day 7: Road trip to Lisbon with a stop in Setubal and Azeitao
Opt for another 4-hour roadtrip thru Faro, Portugal and stop in Setubal for the beautiful market. Stop by Azeitao to see a traditional tile workshop before a 45-minute drive to Lisbon.
Day 8: Explore Lisbon
Let me begin by saying, I loved this city! I think I scootered and walked about 14 miles around the whole city in 1 day.
